Say yes · New Park Road

Let’s build
together.

Different gifts. Different roles. One community. There is room for what you could bring to our shared life and ministry.

A first step towards a conversation. No pressure to commit.

The brick facade and arched windows of New Park Road Baptist Church beneath an evening sky. Many pieces.
One community.
Many pieces. One community.
“Let us rise up and build.” Nehemiah 2:18

In Nehemiah, the people rebuilt together, each taking responsibility for the part before them. Different people brought different gifts to one shared work.

At NPR, serving grows from the love we have received in Jesus. We belong to one another as members of his body, and the Spirit gives different gifts for our common good. A welcome at the door, a conversation over coffee, careful preparation or quiet work behind the scenes can each become an expression of Christ’s love.

Your place in our church family is a gift, not something you earn by serving. We recognise that people have different capacities and seasons of life. Together, we can prayerfully ask: What part might God be inviting me to play?

Take a first step

A simple three-step journey

  1. See something you could contribute to

Explore the opportunities and notice where your attention is drawn. You do not need to be certain yet.

  2. Say yes

Tell us what interests you. Registering your interest begins a conversation, with no long-term commitment at this stage.

  3. Let’s have a conversation

Someone from NPR will be in touch to talk about the role, support and training, and what could fit your availability.

Different gifts. Different roles. One church.

Where could you serve?

Open any role to learn more. Each offers a way to help nurture our church’s life, share Christ’s welcome and love our neighbours extraordinarily.

Sunday Projection Team Help everyone follow song words, Bible readings and presentations during Sunday worship. Find out more Close details

Our Projection Team helps everyone participate fully in Sunday worship by making sure song words, Bible readings, notices and presentation material appear clearly and at the right time. It is one of those ministries that often goes unnoticed when everything is working well, but it makes a real difference to the flow and accessibility of worship.

You do not need to arrive as a technical expert. Training will be provided, and you can spend time alongside someone experienced before taking responsibility yourself.

If you are reasonably comfortable using a computer, can pay attention to what is happening during a service, and enjoy serving quietly behind the scenes, this could be a great place for you to contribute.

Audio & Livestream Team Help people hear clearly and stay connected, in the building and at home. Find out more Close details

Good sound helps people engage with worship, preaching, prayer and one another. Our Audio & Livestream Team helps make sure that people can hear clearly in the building and that those joining us online can remain connected to the life of the church.

This might involve microphones, sound levels, livestream equipment or helping prepare things before the service begins. You do not need professional experience: training and support will be provided.

If you enjoy technology, solving problems or making things work well behind the scenes, we would love to help you explore whether this team might suit you.

Welcome Team Help regulars, newcomers and visitors feel noticed, comfortable and welcome. Find out more Close details

Welcome is more than handing someone a notice sheet at the door. It is about helping every person who comes to NPR, whether they have been here for years or have never stepped inside a church before, feel noticed, comfortable and glad they came.

Welcome Team members greet people, help newcomers find their way around, answer simple questions and notice those who may be standing on the edge of things.

You do not need to be the loudest or most outgoing person in the room. Often the best welcomers are simply people who are attentive, kind and willing to notice someone else.

Children’s Sunday School Help our children discover Jesus, build friendships and grow in faith. Find out more Close details

Children are not simply the church of tomorrow. They are part of the church today. Our Children’s Sunday School team helps children discover Jesus, ask questions, build friendships and grow in faith in ways that are engaging and appropriate for their age.

There are many ways to help. You might lead an activity, support a small group, help with crafts or games, prepare resources or simply be another trustworthy adult who listens and encourages.

People serving with children will follow NPR’s safeguarding procedures and receive the appropriate support and training. If you enjoy helping children flourish, we would love to talk with you.

Youth Sunday School Walk alongside young people as they explore faith, life and following Jesus. Find out more Close details

Young people need spaces where they can explore faith honestly, ask difficult questions and discover what following Jesus might mean in the realities of their own lives. Our Youth Sunday School team walks alongside them as they think about faith, identity, relationships, school, culture and the world around them.

You do not need to have all the answers. In fact, being able to listen well is often more important than having a perfect response. We are looking for adults who can be consistent, encouraging and willing to take young people seriously.

Appropriate safeguarding procedures and training will be part of serving in this ministry.

Friday Youth Club Help create a safe, welcoming and enjoyable space for young people in our community. Find out more Close details

Friday Youth Club provides a safe, welcoming and enjoyable space for young people from our church and wider community. It is an opportunity to build relationships, have fun and offer young people a place where they are known, respected and encouraged.

People serving might help with games and activities, refreshments, conversations, setting up or simply being a consistent adult presence.

You do not have to be effortlessly cool, which is fortunate for most of us. What matters far more is patience, reliability, a sense of humour and a concern for young people. Safeguarding requirements and appropriate training will apply.

Finance Team Use financial, administrative or organisational skills to help steward NPR’s resources well. Find out more Close details

The way we manage money is part of our stewardship. Our Finance Team helps NPR handle its resources carefully, transparently and responsibly so that the church can support ministry, mission, staff, buildings and community work with confidence.

There may be opportunities for people with experience in finance, bookkeeping, administration, spreadsheets, budgeting or organisational work. Some tasks may be regular while others are occasional.

If you have skills in this area and would like to explore how they might serve the church, we would be very pleased to have a conversation.

Community Café Team Offer hospitality, conversation and a warm welcome to our neighbours in Clapham Park. Wednesdays · 10am to 3pm Find out more Close details

Our Community Café is about much more than tea and coffee. It is a place where neighbours can meet, relationships can grow and people can experience something of the welcome and generosity we want NPR to offer to Clapham Park. For someone who may never have attended a Sunday service, a café can be an easier doorway into relationship and community.

There are different ways to be involved. You might prepare or serve refreshments, welcome people as they arrive, sit and talk with guests, help prepare the room, wash up, clear away or help us think creatively about how the café can serve our neighbourhood well. Some people will naturally gravitate towards the kitchen, others towards conversation, and both matter.

At its heart, this is a ministry of presence and hospitality. We are creating a place where people can be known, listened to and welcomed. If you care about our neighbourhood and enjoy bringing people together, the Community Café could be a meaningful place to serve.

The café runs on Wednesdays, 10am to 3pm. We’ll talk together about the time you could offer.
