Community Café
Space to work, connect and find support
An open café space for the whole community. Bring your laptop, meet someone for coffee, use the Wi-Fi, or connect with practical support.
Every Wednesday, 9am to 4pm
Use the space your way
The Community Café is open throughout the day. There is no programme to follow and no pressure to take part in anything. Drop in when it suits you and make yourself at home.
Under this text, add another Code Block containing three visual cards.
Work or study
Bring your laptop, find a table and use the free Wi-Fi. Stay for a short while or work here throughout the day.
Meet and connect
Meet a friend, get to know other local people, or simply enjoy being somewhere welcoming.
Find support
Speak privately with organisations offering practical help with money, benefits, work and other concerns.
Support when you need it
Introduction
Practical support is available within the café. You do not need to explain why you have come, and you will not be expected to discuss personal matters in front of other people.
Crosslight Advice
Connect with free and confidential support if you are worried about debt, household bills or managing your money.
Speak with a member of the café team and we will help you understand the next step.
Department for Work and Pensions
Speak with DWP staff about benefits, Universal Credit, finding work, returning to employment, training and skills.
Community organisations
Other organisations will visit the café with information about housing, health, family life, employment and local activities.
The organisations available may change from week to week.
Come in and make yourself at home
There is no formal arrival process.
Come through the door, find a table and use the café in the way that works for you. You can work, meet someone, use the Wi-Fi, talk with other people or simply enjoy the space.
One of our café team will be nearby if you have a question or would like help connecting with a support organisation.
You can talk with people or keep to yourself. You can ask for support or simply enjoy the café. The choice is yours.
Use a photograph with natural conversation, daylight and visible space around the people.
Making room in our neighbourhood
At New Park Road Baptist Church, two of our values are Make Room and Repair What Is Broken.
We want to create a space where people are welcomed, listened to and able to participate. We do not have every answer, but we can offer hospitality, build relationships and help people connect with useful support.
The Community Café is one way we are seeking to belong to Christ, to one another and to this neighbourhood.
Keep this section brief. It explains NPR’s Christian motivation without making visitors feel that faith participation is a condition of entering.
There is room for you
Come to work, meet someone, enjoy a drink or find some practical support.
